Mary and Mike are a marriage of elite agents of the dreaded Chilean secret police, DINA. Their job is to eliminate opposition leaders who from abroad articulate resistance to the fierce military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. In her public life, Mary is a writer and rubs shoulders with the most prominent members of Santiago's cultural life. Mike, a nice “gringo” with a great talent for electronics. They live with their adolescent children in the suburbs of Santiago where they tend to host large parties. But while they celebrate, in the backyard of their home they torture, murder and experiment with weapons of mass destruction. One day, tired and about to publish her first book, Mary decides to leave the criminal organization. But her superiors demand one last and risky mission of them: to carry out a car bomb attack, a few blocks from the White House, in the heart of the United States.
